Barack Obama Picks North Carolina to Win the NCAA Tournament

Filed under: March MadnessWe've heard from Bobby Knight, Dick Vitale, local columnists, statisticians and every other yahoo about who they picked to win the NCAA Tournament. But what about the candidates for President? Sure, we know their views on the war and health care but do they think you need strong guard play or a dominant big man? Give us something we can use, people! Barack Obama stepped into that void this morning by telling the radio station 850 The Buzz that he likes North Carolina

St. Paddy's Day Roundup

Couple of things that have occurred to me this rainy, rainy St. Patrick's Day. 1. It always rains on St. Patrick's Day. I also think it's wrong to have St. Patrick's Day on a Monday. I think we should observe March 17 and always celebrate on the nearest Saturday. That's what I think anyway. 2. March Madness is undeniably, most definitely and assuredly the best 3-weeks of sports the entire year. Puts the Super Bowl to shame by Monday morning after the selection show. 3. I hear something that

Gene Keady's Giant Head Is Rated TV-14 College Basketball Closer

The College Basketball Closer is written by the gang at Storming the Floor. Technology has enhanced my college basketball viewing experience in many ways this season. There's the flat-screen TV that makes the players look like human beings instead of fuzzy blobs. There's the satellite package that brings arcane channels full of small-conference basketball beyond the city limits, and there's DVRs to tape the games I have to miss, and the high definition networks that sharpen the images to amazi

Possible tornado rips Atlanta, moves SEC tourney

ATLANTA Alabama and Mississippi State were locked in a thrilling game at the Southeastern Conference tournament. Suddenly, everyone started looking toward the roof of the Georgia Dome, wondering where that rumbling sound was coming from. What they saw was terrifying. Metal scaffolding and a temporary video board swaying back and forth. The huge fabric roof flapping like a flag in a stiff breeze. Two large panels above the upper deck starting to peel away. Another Chiefs?? Mailbag

The first ever Chiefs mailbag on MVN sparked a lot of traffic - and several new questions.? Since today is ruled by the NCAA, and NFL news is dreadfully slow, let??s answer some more questions. ?What will you do if the Chiefs draft Matt Ryan at 5? - T-Bone, Kansas City I keep having the term ???scorched earth??? come to mind, complete with burning down Arrowhead, but that might be overreacting. Like all Chiefs fans, I??ll be upset that we didn??t draft a lineman offensive or defensive, but then

Cool Stuff: The Alamo Drafthouse - The Best Movie Theater EVER

I know, I know?? I??m late to this party! First impressions of the NCAA Tournament We saw 4 games. Best game was BYU - Texas A&M, a matchup between better coaching and better athletes. The athletes won. Mississippi Valley State had the worst warm up togs - they looked like little green elves. It was probably a good indicator as to how they would play versus UCLA. NO BEER AT THE TOURNAMENT VENUE...
